Expertise
Climate-resilient, inclusive water and sanitation
Around 80% of Nepal's people are at risk from climate-related disasters, and women, children and persons with disabilities are hit hardest. Through Beyond the Finish Line, PDDF led social mobilization with SNV Nepal and IWMI Nepal in four rural municipalities.
- Mapped disaster-prone locations and prepared risk-reduction action plans.
- Used the GESI Self-Assessment Tool in municipal plans and budgets.
- Rebuilt gravity-fed water schemes with climate-adaptive technology.
- Prepared water safety plans for each source.
- Brought women entrepreneurs into water system maintenance.
- Introduced accessible water-source and tap designs.
Working with government
We coordinate with the District Administration Office, District Police Office, District Coordination Committee, Social Development Office and other agencies to put disability rights laws into practice. For community-based rehabilitation we have worked with the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens and with ministries of Karnali Province.
We help municipalities with disability data collection, individual plans, access to government services, strategic planning and disaster information guidelines.
